Rheumatoid Arthritis Remission comes in two forms:
There's RA remission that just kind of goes away (and then comes back later)
And then there's YOU causing the Rheumatoid Arthritis dynamic to GO AWAY.
Doctors will tell you there's no cure, but....well, they can't cure you so there is a question of just how credible is an RA doctor?
Regardless, you have two choices: hope and pray that the RA goes away, or take the actions that will put it into remission (by which I mean, make it go away).
The normal experience of Rheumatoid Arthritis remission is that symptoms just lessen and/or go away....for a while. They they come back. Included with that are 'flare ups', where peopel feel pretty good and then they don't.
RA doctors don't really know -why- things feel better or get worse, and they blame it on the mysterious 'auto-immune disease'.
So what is Rheumatoid Arthritis remission, really?
As an overall explanation, 'remission' means that the mechanism that is causing symptoms goes from 'amped up' to 'less amped up'.
The stiffness and pain comes primarily from an Process of Inflammation. This is an immune system response that releases pain enhancing chemical that sets your neuroreceptors on edge. There's a lot more going on with that, of course, but essentiall, when you're having RA symptos it's because there is a mechanism causing those symptoms, and 'remission' means that that mechanism dials down.
As you'll see below, there are two main categories of remission.
For the record, pharmaceutical drugs don't actgually cause remission, they just suppress the mechanism that WOULD still be causing pain and problem. There's some semantics there, but the point is pharmaceticals don't have the mechanism get 'better', they just smother it.
Question: "Why do my Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms go into remission?"
Doctors' Mystery Remission Answer: "Nobody really knows, but let's hope it stays in remission. Maybe pay attention to what you eat/drink/how much you sleep/how stressed you are/etc and see what that does for your symptoms. And here's some immuno-suppressant pharmaceutical drugs!"
Generally, people suffering from RA can pay attention and find certain foods or stresses or thoughts or environments that help their symptoms or make their symptoms worse.
However, that doesn't explain WHY symptoms go into remission. It does imply that food and environment and the body's ability to deal with stress play a role. That's an important clue!
See: Rheumatoid Arthritis Symptoms
IMPORTANT!!
Pharmaceutical immuno-suppressants do NOT put the 'disease' into remission, they just suppress the immune system from doing it's job. (That is ALSO an important clue!)
Point being, RA suppressing drugs don't fix or curing anything, they ONLY suppress the immune system. And pharmaceuticals come with their own potential and real downsides.
What's actually happening with 'mystery' remission is one of two things (or a combination of both):
The body is always adapting, and even iwth issues like Tendonitis there is a constant ebb and flow of 'better and worse'. Your body is ALWAYS trying to get you better.
See: What Is Tendonitis?
If you want an 'on demand' Rheumatoid Arthritis remission, then you have to be smarter than your body (and smarter than your doctor).
If you want to continue to hope that symptoms go into remission, well...there's plenty of support out there for chronic RA sufferers.
Personally I prefer the On Demand option.
On the Osteoarthritis vs Rheumatoid Arthritis page you'll see that each type of arthritis has a different (set of) causes.
Osteoarthritis is a function of the Tendonitis dynamic and a result of the Pain Causing Dynamic.
The Cause of Rheumatoid Arthritis is a VERY different cause. To know how to cause RA remission, one must understand WHAT CAUSES RA! So go to that page for an in-depth explanation.
In short, inflammatory agents like gluten, sugar, processed vegetable oils, chemicals, heavy metals, etc, cause a progressive pattern of physical responses that leads to an auto-immune response.
So...how might you heal, cure, reverse, fix, or <insert your preferred term here> Rheumatoid Arthritis?
How might you cause Rheumatoid Arthritis remission? A -real- remission?
*HINT HINT* STOP putting those inflammatory agents into your body.
There's a bit more to it than that, of course, but ultimately that is a necessary part of putting Rheumatoid Arthritis into remission.
