Plantar Fasciitis Surgery On My Right Foot On December 6th

by Diane
(Maryland)

I had surgery on my right foot on December 06, 2011. The surgery went well. I was sent home and told not to put any weight on it for two weeks. I got around using crutches.

I had minimally invasive surgery, so only had an ace bandage. The pain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. As long as I kept it elevated and applied ice, it was bearable.

After two weeks, I returned to the doctors office, they removed the stitches, four of them, and it was rewrapped. I was told to begin putting weight on it.

It has been almost two weeks and I can tolerate walking or standing for a couple hours before it begins to hurt. It mainly hurts where the incision was and in the arch, but sometimes it the whole foot hurts.

I guess its because I am favoring the foot and walking different. I guess with time it will get better.

Hi Diane.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Plantar Fasciitis Surgery.

I'm curious, how bad were your Plantar Fasciitis Symptoms?

I'm curious, in the sense of trying to correlate how 'bad' your foot pain and problem was and
how invasive the surgery was.

It sounds like the surgery itself and recovery hasn't been too traumatic, aside from having to stay off it for a couple weeks.

Did your doctor have you do anything for self care aside from staying off the foot and assumably some Anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen?

If you haven't been icing, it's never too late to learn How To Reduce Inflammation.
